Insert Many Expletives
So Life is listed as cancelled or nearly cancelled all over the internet.

That's it. I'm officially a Killer of Shows. I should give up watching television for the good of mankind or start watching all the reality crap permeating the airwaves.

Grrr.

At least the season finale tied up some loose ends.

It’s no use hiding the grey hair, is it?
I’ve just received a wedding invitation from someone that I remember from when she was a wee baby. Please excuse me as I have to go sit on the front porch and shake my walker at the pesky neighborhood kids.

It's never too early, right?
Grabbed this idea from the lovely [livejournal.com profile] antiope,

Anyone want a Christmas/Holiday card from me (or a postcard if you're a fuzzy Grinch)?

Leave your address in the comments (which will be screened) and I'll get off my lazy butt and send you one. Promise.

Stay Away from Netrillium PT 2
Warning: Contains high levels of sarcasm.

The joy continues.

On the 29th I submitted a complaint to the Better Business Bureau online detailing my experiences with Netrillium. I did this right after I submitted the help desk ticket with the title "Will be contacting Better Business Bureau". It was not an idle threat. As I have said, within 30 minutes I was sent a short reply containing the information I needed to log in.

I log in and notice there are two invoices:

22143 04/29/2008 04/25/2008 $9.99 USD Unpaid
22144 04/29/2008 04/29/2008 $9.99 USD Paid

Okay...

I submit another help desk ticket (the only way to contact them it seems) Tuesday night before 7 PM EST.

Yesterday I did receive two reminders about the outstanding invoice, but still no reply as of today to the ticket. However I did today receive a reply to my BBB complaint which again shows their "quality customer service".

This complaint is totally bogus. She has her domains. She has logged in (otherwise how would it have been renewed).

Live support is available during normal business hours. Ticketed support is available 24/7/365 and our admins are always on call for emergency situations.

1. I was only able to log in once I invoked the name of the Almighty BBB. Perhaps if I had done this with my most recent ticket it would already be resolved.

2. "Live support is available during normal business hours". I've checked on and off throughout the day and night. For instance right now it is 1:45 PM EST. Live support is listed as "AWAY". Just because I submitted the tickets at night it doesn't mean I wasn't working on it during the day.

3. "Our admins are always on call for emergency situations." How? The contact form only opens another help desk ticket. The phone number is disconnected. How are we humble patrons to contact the All Holy Admins? I must not have received the memo or my psychic connection must be on the fritz. Maybe it just takes them a while to get to Pennsylvania from Richmond, VA (where the BBB says they are) with their black internet doctor's bag.

I did a BBB search for Netrillium before I submitted my complaint.

BBB Rating: Unsatisfactory
Based on BBB files, this company has an unsatisfactory record with the Bureau due to 2 unanswered complaints.

The Bureau processed a total of 10 complaints about this company in the last 36 months, our standard reporting period. Of the total 10 complaints closed in the last 36 months, 2 were closed in the last 12 months.

These complaints concerned:
4 regarding Billing or Collection Issues
4 regarding Billing or Collection Issues
1 regarding Customer Services Issues
1 regarding Customer Services Issues
1 regarding Refund Or Exchange Issues
1 regarding Refund Or Exchange Issues
4 regarding Service Issues

Let's see how long it takes them to respond to my ticket submitted Tuesday night. I don't think I should hold my breath.

Stay away from Netrillium
I'm not f-locking this for a reason.

I have different domains registered with Netrillium for over 3 years now. Usually one at a time, letting old ones die. Right now I have two, mine and Rob's. Apparently mine expired without warning this past weekend, despite the fact that they claim they will email you first. Okay, maybe my mistake.

I try logging into their client area using passwords they emailed me in January. "Password Incorrect". I try sending a password reminder "Email address not found". Even though it was the same email address they sent the passwords to. I was also a bit confused because doing a whois search said it was renewed. What the hell? So I submitted a help desk ticket explaining the situation and asking for... well help.. This was Sunday. Their website boasts 24/7/365 support, so I figured it wouldn't be long. They also have a "Live Support" button which seems to always say "OFFLINE".

A day goes by. Trying to find contact information. There's a form, OH JOY. Fill out the form and 'lo and behold it just opens another ticket.

Today - Still no reply. Trying the phone number I found through a google search leads me to a "this number has been disconnected" message. Doing a google search is also depressing, because I seem to be just another passenger in a rather large boat of disgruntled customers. Submit another ticket for the hell of it calling bullshit on their claims of superior customer service.

6:00 PM. Submit another ticket with the heading "WILL BE CONTACTING BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU".

6:15 PM. Receive a reply that simply says "You can log into your Client Area with your email address and the password: *********.

Once logged in, go to MY DOMAINS and then VIEW DETAILS"

No apologies or explanations. What an odd coincidence that after numerous messages the one with that subject gets a reply in less than 20 minutes. Along with the response they even sent me an invoice and a confirmation letter. What an odd coincidence. I had just filed a complaint through the BBB website.

Last year I had a similar problem. I couldn't log in with the password they gave me so I submitted a help desk ticket with my verizon email. Turns out no email makes it through from Netrillium so I can't access the ticket. Submit another ticket apologizing and explaining. The new ticket is closed with the message "duplicate" as they answered the original. I reopen it, once again explaining that I had no access to the original. I received this reply:

You had submitted a ticket from the verizon e-mail which was replied to. The second was closed as a duplicate.

Please do not claim that we provide no replies or login information. We cannot help if the e-mail you are using is having delivery problems. We do not control Verizon or their services.

Netrillium provides quality services to thousands of people and we take great pride in it.

From someone who is listed as one of the owners. My message that she is replying to with that is actually rather pleasant and not accusatory, just maybe a little frustrated. After her reply I wrote a scathing email and got an apology from another member.

Which leads us to my attitude today.

I couldn't transfer my domain to anyone yet, but as soon as 60 days is up both of them are heading off into the sunset. Of course, this may require more help desk tickets for authorizations or whatnot.

So, stay away from Netrillium.

Another video
I think it was [livejournal.com profile] hallways who asked about depressing music a while ago and I couldn't think of anything. Well, maybe Ruby's Arms by Tom Waits, but I couldn't find a version of that online.

So instead here's a video of the wonderful Townes Van Zandt with Waitin' Around to Die from the dvd Heartworn Highways. He was such an incredible songwriter. The live version I have is a bit slower than this. Give it a shot.
